School Board

The purpose of the Parish Education Advisory Board is:

  • To ensure the Catholic ethos is maintained and nurtured.
  • To share in the governance of the school.
  • To encourage lay ministry and community leadership.
  • To build and sustain relationships and partnerships.
  • To support the parish priest and the principal.
  • To ensure good governance through shared wisdom.
  • To bear witness to the principle of subsidiarity (decisions made at the local level).
  • To serve the entire school community.
  • To create futures and to consider the big picture.
  • To seek the optimum learning environment for all students.

Along with Fr Varghese Kattikatu (Parish Administrator) and Claire Tobin (Acting Principal), below are the members of the 2022 School Board:

Board Chair: Madeleine Morris 

Madeleine is mother to Scarlett, in Year 5 and Nina in Prep. Along with husband Sam, she has loved being an active member of the St Joseph's community since moving to Melbourne from London. Madeleine has been a journalist for over 20 years, starting in country Queensland before becoming a foreign reporter and presenter for the BBC, where she reported from more than 20 countries. She is currently the Finance Presenter for ABC News Breakfast, and the presenter of RMIT ABC Fact Check. Having spent a large part of her career reporting on international events, particularly in the developing world, she is keen to ensure our kids have a sense of connection to the wider world around them. Madeleine was previously a board member of UK/South African arts charity Dramatic Need.  

Board Vice-Chair: Natasha Bowe

Natasha Bowe joined the board in 2021, bringing skills in strategy, planning and operations to the board. Natasha is mother to Jack, now Year 9 at Xavier College, Gracie in Year 7 at Loreto, Willa in Grade 2 and Tom in Prep.  Natasha started at St Joey’s in Prep a long time ago – our Grade 1 classroom was located where the library is now. She has a background in Operations in Manufacturing, before moving into food safety, consulting and training. Natasha has a Bachelor of Science, an MBA from QUT and has undergone Executive Education at Harvard University, focusing on women’s leadership. She is currently co-director of QMS Audits, an auditing, consulting and training company she founded with her husband, Julian Kennedy, in 2014.  


Board Member: Roger Pendred

Roger joined the school Board in 2019, bringing over 25 years management and leadership experience across numerous market sectors including maritime, resources and telecommunications. Roger has held CEO and director roles in the healthcare sector over the last 10 years. He has experience working in SME and large corporate settings in both for profit and not for profit businesses.
Roger and his wife, Ingrid, have twin boys, Hamish and Henry (in Year 3), who both love being part of St Joseph’s. They also have Louie, a Great Dane x Lab, that is very friendly and loves getting pats when he visits the school at pick up time. The school offers an incredible community for the children as well as their broader family. Along with others on the Board, Roger hopes to be able to contribute towards the future of the school and provide support to successfully realising the various initiatives and projects undertaken.
Board Member: Shae Roberts

Shae joined the Board in 2019, bringing her accounting and risk advisory skills. Shae and her husband, Brendon, have four children, with Allegra currently in Year 2 at St Joseph's and Benedict, starting in 2023. She is looking forward to playing a key role in the school community by contributing to the Board’s initiatives.


Shae is a Chartered Accountant with 20 years’ experience in professional services both in Australia and overseas and is currently working in financial services. She specialises in the area of fraud, corruption and misconduct investigations and advisory. In recent years she has worked for a number of clients in the education sector which has provided useful insight into the business operations of educational institutions and an understanding of some of the challenges faced, particularly around the areas of procurement and capital expenditure.


Board Member: Amanda Goddard

Amanda Goddard joined the Board in 2021, bringing Accounting, Risk Advisory, Strategic Planning, Business Transformation and Governance skills. Mum to Olivia (Year 1), she is looking forward to ensuring St Joseph’s fundamental philosophies are continued and balanced with the commercial success of the school.


Amanda was born in Barbados, and has studied and worked in Canada for 10 years. Amanda trained as an auditor in Canada and joined the Melbourne PwC office in 2010. She joined Nissan Motor Co head office in 2011 and there held various roles throughout the organisation, from Finance Manager in the financial services arm, to focusing on the growth and profitability of the core auto business, assessing & creating internal control frameworks and helping to create and lead strategic initiatives.

Amanda is excited to join the Board and looks forward to working with it on future initiatives.


Board Member: Evan Dimitriou

Evan Dimitriou joined the Board in 2021, bringing total business leadership, corporate finance, strategic planning and business transformation skills. Dad to Olivia (Year 1), who has just started at St Joseph’s, Evan is looking forward to supporting the Board and future direction of the school.

Evan is currently the Chief Financial Officer for Nando’s Australia & New Zealand and is a Chartered Accountant with over 14 years’ experience covering professional services (PWC), FMCG (Fonterra) and Retail (Coles Supermarkets) with experience both in Australia and overseas. Evan is passionate about developing talent, growing businesses and ensuring diversity & inclusiveness is at the forefront of the workplace.   

Board Member: John Ferraro

John, and his wife Jessica have three children, Imogen (7), Leo (5) and Isabella (3). Imogen is in Grade 1 and Leo is in Prep. Having three nephews also attend St Joseph's, John has a strong connection and bond with the school.
John is a Chemical Engineer, and has over 15 years corporate and not-for-profit experience across Operations and Supply Chain Director roles as well as General/Business Manager. His career has covered many industries including water, biopharmaceutical, packaging, industrial and food. 
John is looking forward to being able to contribute to the board, including its capital works program and other important initiatives that aim to set the school up for success in the future.

Board Member: John-Paul Santamaria

John-Paul is the father of Jack (Year 1), as well as daughters Romilly and Catherine. A finance lawyer by background, John-Paul has spent the past five years working in the External Affairs team of a Melbourne-based resources company. Originally from Melbourne, John-Paul and his wife Skye lived in London for 6 years (where Jack was born), before moving back to the Bayside area in 2018.


A key factor in selecting St Joseph’s was its obviously close and supportive school community. JP and his family hope to contribute to the community over many years, and JP looks forward to helping the Board build on the school’s impressive reputation.
